RM of Mankota’s story
The Rural Municipality of Mankota No. 45 was incorporated as a rural municipality on January 1, 1913. It lies in the southwest part of Saskatchewan, right along the American border, with Valley County and Phillips County in Montana as its neighbours to the south.
Within its boundaries are the village of Mankota, where the RM office is located, and the organized hamlet of McCord. A number of smaller localities also dot the municipality: Billimun, Ferland, Horse Creek, McEachern, Milly, Summercove and Wideview.
Today the RM is run by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the second Tuesday of each month. Highways 18, 19 and 611 serve the area.
